Some of the first assignments I did for the NY Daily News was about religion on the city. I went to various churches, temples and synagogues and found a deep sense of faith interwoven with community. For some, religion is strong in this city. It reverborates from the voice of the priest. Floats on the song from the cantor. Murmured from a personal prayer from a tight-lidded child.

Sometimes I feel a bit like an intruder by attempting to sum up their spiritual essence in a series of photographs because true faith runs oceans deep; it cannot be reduced to a sentence, a photograph, an action. But still, I try to catch a tangible moment of an entirely intangible phenomena.
